Tosba Espadin (750ml)

SKU #1146248

One of the most vibrant and affordable new mezcales to hit our shelf in years, the Tosba Espadin has the tangy character of the agave on the palate and a healthy dollop of smoke to balance it all out. Tosba is imported by Elisandro Gonzalez-Molina and his cousin Edgar Gonzalez-Ramirez; both who are from the small village of San Cristóbal Lachirioag in Oaxaca. It was their hope to bring the wonderful spirits of their pueblo to the U.S. market and we're very happy they've done so.

A massively delicious and highly affordable mezcal from some of our favorite guys in the industry. This is true grower producer Mezcal. Mezcal has become somewhat like wine or cognac over the last decade, with importers and brand owners buying bulk product from farmers and distillers throughout the region. But very few true Mezcaleros have been able to connect and market their own product in the US. This is one of the few and one of our favorites. What makes Tosba unique, is that it's basically been built from the ground up by two cousins, who had never distilled a drop of Mezcal before they agreed to start farming in their home town of San Cristobal. Their inexperience in production was more than made up for by a drive to bring the finest Mezcal to directly from a producer to this growing market. They learned to distill over the last decade by trial and error and through studying the techniques of their favorite distillers. The result is something all together unique. On the nose we're off the standard carbonized, charcoal smoke we often get on less expensive mezcal and well into the wonderul agave fruit and spice. The palate is absolutely balanced and more generous than most. Tons of minerally, white pepper, cinnamon, and nutty spice - it's all about the mouthfeel here, which is viscous without feeling sweet or overpowering. A spirit of great balance rather than overbearing power.
