2012 Tami Frappato Sicilia

Love this little Frappato, a second label from wine industry darling Arianna Occhipinti. Some versions of Frappato can be a little too tutti-frutti for me, reminding me of being 10 years old and tearing into a brand new pack of Hubba Bubba strawberry bubble gum. Not really something I'm looking for in a wine. This has some pretty strawberry fruit to be sure, but also rhubarb, red cherry, exotic spice and a lovely earthiness as well. Lightly tannic, just enough to give it some structure, and beautiful acidity. Very food friendly and versatile. If the thermometer starts creeping up into that 90 degree range (or worse), certainly don't be shy about popping this in the fridge for 20 minutes or so to give it a slight chill. Not a blockbuster, but a very pretty, very cool and very fun wine at a rockin' price. (Chris Miller, K&L LA Italian wine specialist)
