If you asked a budding Italiophile to name all 21 regions of Italy, my guess is the one most would forget would be the Molise. It was actually a part of Abbruzzo until about 40 years ago, when it was awarded it's own regional autonomy. I've never been there but I hear it's stunningly beautiful, so high on my to do list. Anyway, from there comes this incredibly delicious wine from an autoctonous grape called Tintillia. It's hard to describe. It has an slight grapey/raspberry quality that reminds me of Petite Syrah, but also the bouncy cherry fruit of Galioppo, the brambly fruit character of Zinfandel and the tannic structure of Brunello di Montalcino. It has a little something for everybody. One of the coolest wines I've come across in a long time, I highly recommend you check it out. CM, LA Italian wine specialist.
