The 2010 Buena Pinta is pure Garnacha as well as pure heaven in a glass. It has a complex, very natural bouquet with gamey red berry fruit, wild hedgerow and Provencal herbs with fine delineation. The palate has a touch of petillance on the entry, followed by a sumptuous, smooth, mineral-rich middle that fans out beautifully across the mouth. It is imbued with great tension and purity with lush red currant and white pepper notes lingering on the aftertaste. Superb. Drink now-2020+. (10/2012)
If there were a wine in Ponce's line-up that suggests the elegance of a Burgundy or Barolo (no mean feat in these warmer climate vineyards), this would be it. There are two star components to the wine: the first would be a 140 year old plot of Moravia Agria, a real rarity and contributor to the aromatics and finesse, and the second is Garnacha from an 80 year old parcel. Spicy and intriguing aromas lead to a beautifully expressive palate, light on its feet and with very fine tannins. This wine is super rare and a real eye opener. Fantastic.
