The NV (2019) Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne is fabulous. Rich, ample and layered, the Brut Cuvée Ste.-Anne hits all the right notes. I especially admire its vinous intensity and overall resonance. Dried pear, flowers mint, white pepper and lemon confit are some of the many notes that grace this exquisite Champagne from Alexandre Chartogne. It's great to see this bottling - one of my perennial favorites - bounce back from a lackluster showing last year. Best of all, Cuvée Ste.-Anne remains an exceptional value in the world of fine grower Champagne. (AG)

A distinctive Champagne, high-toned and floral with its cherry blossom and spice aromatics accenting the steeped raspberry, orange peel and salted almond flavors. Finely textured, like raw silk on the palate, this is bright and mouthwatering on the lingering finish. Disgorged January 2021. (AN)

Alexandre Chartogne’s new release of Cuvée Sainte Anne is from the base year of 2019, with a small percentage of the blend composed from reserve wines. The cépages is forty-five percent chardonnay and pinot noir and ten percent pinot meunier. The vins clairs go through full malo and eighty are raised in casks, with bottling for secondary fermentation taking place in June of 2020. It was disgorged in December of 2021 and finished with a dosage of five grams per liter. The wine delivers a lovely aromatic constellation of apple, white peach, brioche, a lovely base of soil, orange blossoms, white lilies and a gentle touch of buttery oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, brisk and focused, with a lovely core of fruit, fine complexity and bounce, refined mousse and a long, complex finish. This has a bit more depth and length than the last couple of iterations of the Sainte Anne that I have tasted and is an excellent bottle of non-vintage Brut!

Based on the 2018 vintage and disgorged in March 2021 with five grams per liter dosage, Chartogne's newly released NV Brut Sainte Anne reveals inviting aromas of pear, white peach, fresh bread and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming, it's seamless and enveloping, with a generous core of fruit, lively acids and a pillowy mousse. It's a lovely wine that wears its heart on its sleeve. (WK)

The NV Champagne Cuvée Ste-Anne Brut is equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier, with 80% from the 2019. The nose is lifted with some slightly volatile aromas that do seem to blow off with time in the glass and give way to notes of passionfruit, grapefruit, and fragrant smoke. It has a lovely texture, with a fine, rounded mousse that finishes with a light savory touch. I think this will benefit from a few more months in bottle before drinking over the next several years.
