2023 Domaine Seguinot Bordet Petit Chablis
Review Date: 06-08-2026
Aromas of stone and citrus fruits burst from the glass while the palate displays perfectly ripe fruit, crushed stone and mineral notes. The depth here is impressive with layer-after-layer of complexity that far surpasses what one would normally find in a humble Petit Chablis. This wine is in a great place right and it drinking wonderfully.

2023 Charles Père et Fille Volnay Clos de la Cave"
Review Date: 05-18-2026
This is my new favorite under-$50 Red Burgundy value! The Clos de la Cave vineyard in Volnay sits just above three Premier Cru Volnay sites and has long been known for producing wines with 1er Cru-level quality. That pedigree is clearly evident in the 2023 Charles Père et Fille Volnay “Clos de la Cave.”
The nose bursts with dynamic aromas of red fruits and delicate floral notes, while the palate unfolds with beautifully defined layers of fresh red berries, spice and subtle hints of darker fruit. Wonderfully balanced and impressively complex, this is a striking Red Burgundy that easily drinks at two to three times its modest price. If you’re searching for a high-quality Red Burgundy that won’t break the bank, grab a few bottles of this outstanding value before they disappear.

2015 Domaine Daniel-Etienne Defaix Chablis 1er Cru "Les Lys"
Review Date: 04-24-2026
Les Lys is one of the most underrated Premier Cru sites in all of Chablis. Capable of producing some of the region’s most profound and complex wines, it has somehow remained under the radar for many enthusiasts—making the 2015 Domaine Daniel-Etienne Defaix Chablis all the more exciting. The nose opens beautifully with aromas of lemon peel, white flowers, crushed rock, and hints of flint. The palate delivers impressive energy and intensity, with citrus notes fanning out across the wine’s layered, complex structure. There is depth here with layer upon layer of fruit and spice seamlessly supported by vibrant acidity and lifted by captivating aromatics. A wine to love, and a remarkable opportunity to enjoy a Chablis of this caliber with over a decade of age at such an appealing price.

2015 Domaine Daniel-Etienne Defaix Chablis 1er Cru "Vaillons"

The 2015 Vaillons opens with an intensely flinty nose that gives way to aromas of lemon chiffon and dried herbs. The palate is richly textured, with abundant orchard fruit balanced by a surge of acidity and energy. The mid- to back-palate is particularly impressive, revealing layers of fruit and complexity that carry seamlessly through to a finish marked by classic Chablisienne character.

2013 Domaine Daniel-Etienne Defaix Chablis 1er Cru "Cote de Lechet"
Review Date: 04-24-2026
A beautiful nose of Red Delicious apple and pear mingles with notes of straw and lemon. The palate shows wonderful drive and verve, with racy acidity that carries orchard fruit, wet stone, and flinty mineral tones across the palate, building complexity from start to the long, satisfying finish. A truly delicious Chablis, it feels remarkably vibrant and exuberant for a wine at 13 years of age.

2023 Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc "Les Sétilles"
Review Date: 03-30-2026
This is an outstanding white Burgundy value—it truly doesn’t get much better than this at $35 a bottle. Sourced from vineyards in both Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, and aged in 90% oak (just 10% new), the wine delivers a classically structured profile that evokes 1er Cru white Burgundy.
The nose is fresh, saline, and fruit-driven, while the palate is lively and complex, offering both energy and depth. It’s an absolute pleasure to drink and has quickly become our go-to daily white—reliably delivering quality without breaking the bank, and easily competing with wines two to three times its price.
2023 Domaine Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé "Autour de la Roche"
Review Date: 03-02-2026
I first discovered the wondrous wines of Domaine J.A. Ferret about 15 years ago, when I began a deep dive into Pouilly-Fuissé. At the time, they were the region’s standard-bearer, crafting serious, age-worthy wines capable of competing with—and often surpassing—their counterparts to the north in the Côte de Beaune. Their wines consistently showed remarkable elegance and purity, with subtle fruit expression, racy acidity, and impressive complexity and length.
The 2023 Domaine J.A. Ferret Pouilly-Fuissé is a beauty, opening with aromas of white flowers and sea breeze. The palate unfolds as a complex blend of citrus and stone fruits, layered with hints of iodine and wet stone. Racy and zesty yet still beautifully layered, it feels like a mythical meeting point between classic Chablis precision and a lightly styled Meursault richness. I love the wines of Domaine J.A. Ferret, and this bottle is an absolute delight.

2024 Domaine Pascal & Mireille Renaud Mâcon-Charnay
Review Date: 02-04-2026
I always recommend the Mâcon-Charnay to customers seeking a richer, more yellow-fruited expression of White Burgundy. The 2024 Domaine Pascal & Mireille Renaud Mâcon-Charnay smartly harnesses the vintage’s racy acidity to frame generous orchard fruit and white flower notes. Richly textured and beautifully balanced, this is a tremendous value and an irresistible wine—especially at the price.

2023 Domaine Renaud Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Aux Chailloux"
Review Date: 02-04-2026
I always love the "Aux Chailloux" vineyard because of its close proximity to St. Veran. The vineyard of "Aux Chailloux" is one of the first vineyards you come across leaving St. Veran and entering into Pouilly Fuisse. Always mineral-driven the 2023 Domaine Renaud Pouilly Fuisse 1er Cru "Aux Chailloux" is bright and zippy with citrus zest and flinty notes that give the wine great cut and drive. This is a fresh and lively white with excellent acidity and verve.

2022 Domaine Renaud Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Aux Bouthières"
Review Date: 02-04-2026
This wine is truly a treat, I love the fact that we still have wines left from the stellar 2022 vintage and they are drinking wonderfully right now. The 2022 Domaine Renaud Pouilly Fuisse 1er Cru "Bouthieres" is no exception with excellent richness and structure that perfectly compliments the ample amount of Orchard fruits and zesty minerality. This wine has excellent complexity and the layers of flavors unfold to reveal an energetic, bright and bold Pouilly Fuisse.

2023 Domaine Jean-Michel Giboulot Cote d'Or Bourgogne Rouge
Review Date: 02-02-2026
This is an outstanding Bourgogne Rouge! I have always loved the wines of Domaine Jean-Michel Giboulot with their focus on Savigny-les-Beaune but lately the cool little secret is they make a serious kick-ass Bourgogne rouge! This baby is loaded with brilliant fruit notes that run the gamut from fresh cranberry all the way through to cassis and blackberry with subtle notes of spice and dried herbs. Wonderful acidity, excellent freshness and tension beautiful match the ample fruit notes all framed perfectly by hints of subtle oak and tannin. Such an easy-drinking and enjoyable red that any red Burgundy value enthusiast will undoubtedly enjoy!

2022 Château de Beauregard Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Menetrieres"
Review Date: 01-21-2026
Arguably the greatest vineyard site in all of Pouilly Fuisse the vineyard "Menetrieres" produces wines of stunning complexity and depth. The 2022 is a flat-out rockstar wine that oozes aromas of lemon chiffon, flint and wet stone while the palate is awash in pure citrus and orchard fruit flavors as well as notes of flint and stony minerality. The complexity and wealth of fruit and raw material here is impressive and this is a regal Pouilly Fuisse that definitely deserves its 1er Cru elevation.

2022 Château de Beauregard Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Crays"
Review Date: 01-21-2026
The "Les Crays" vineyard is tucked underneath the crag of Vergisson which allows it to get plenty of sunlight coupled with cool, long evening shade. The resulting wine is fantastic with hints of flint, wet stone and citrus essence on the nose. The palate is dense and energetic with an oily texture and citrus flavors throughout nicely buffered by hints of flinty minerality. Wonderful density and complexity give this wine and powerful feel reminiscent of a 1er Cru Meursault.

2023 Chateau de Pizay Morgon
Review Date: 01-19-2026
Everybody loves Morgon! It is easily the most renowned of the Cru Beaujolais appellations and the wines are known for having excellent fruit and structure. The 2023 Chateau de Pizay Morgon has brilliant red fruit with sexy spice notes and hints of dried herbs. The palate is bright and open-knit with firm tannins and crunchy red fruit that oscillates from red cherry to pomegranate. The acidity here highlights the purity of fruit while also showcasing the spice and dried herbs notes. There is a mouthwatering feel to this wine that makes it irresistible and ana amazing find for under $20.
2023 Chateau de Pizay Regnie
Review Date: 01-19-2026
One of the smallest Cru appellations in Beaujolais, Regnie wines are known for their ample fruit and crisp minerality and the 2023 Chateau de Pizay Regnie does not disappoint. Beautiful aromas of blue and purple fruits immediately greet you and then give way to notes of cassis, crushed stone and pain grille. The palate is so sleek with racy notes of blackberry, pomegranate and spice with notes of dried herbs. This is such a sexy red wine that is so smooth and balanced that it feels almost regal. Super plush and juicy this is a delightful red wine that is a flat-out steal for under $20!

2023 Domaine Jean-Michel Giboulot Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Serpentières"
Review Date: 01-16-2026
The Serpentieres is neither the heaviest nor the lightest of the Giboulot 1er Cru foursome. This wine has pretty aromas of bitter chocolate, red flowers, wild strawberry and crushed rock with a beguiling palate of gorgeous pure red fruits that start to enter the purple and black fruit range with subtle hints of chocolate and oak along with mineral accents. The acidity holds multi-layered, complex, fruit forward offering together and gives it an energetic and long finish. An understated beauty that definitely merits your attention.

2023 Domaine Jean-Michel Giboulot Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Gravains"
Review Date: 01-16-2026
The Gravains vineyard is always the most powerful of the Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru vineyards. A deep fruit core displays black plum, currant and spice with subtle aromas of the same fruit notes crackling with racy mineral notes while ample tannins and oak accents abound. This is a structured, deep red wine that shows multi-layers of complexity while consistently delivering pure fruit from the very first sniff of the glass all the way to the long, lush finish.

2023 Domaine Jean-Michel Giboulot Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Peuillets"
Review Date: 01-16-2026
I always love the Domaine Jean Michel Giboulot Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Peuillets" because it is easily the most elegant of the four 1er Crus. It is incredibly deceiving because of how effortlessly this wine unfurls across the palate with its subtle notes of red fruits, spice and barely discernible oak notes. This feels like a water color painting where the colors are vibrant yet almost opaque. Fans of balanced, nuanced offerings will love this Savigny-les-Beaune.
Price:
$49.99
2023 Domaine Jean-Michel Giboulot Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Fournaux"
Review Date: 01-16-2026
Jean-Michel Giboulot fashions one of my favorite Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru "Fournaux"'s. He is able to coax out beautiful fruit notes that oscillate between red and dark red fruits with subtle hints of raspberry, fresh strawberry and molten rock. There's an energy and drive here that makes this wine so easy to drink and enjoy and should pair marvelously with most meat dishes. The depth and complexity here combined with intoxicating aromas and pure fruit make this a 1st class 1er Cru!

2024 Domaine Paul Pernot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos de la Garenne"
Review Date: 01-09-2026
Garenne is one of the more underrated vineyard sites in Puligny Montrachet. It consistently produces wines of wonderful depth and complexity and in 2024 in the hands of Paul Pernot the result is wonderous. The fruit here bends more towards pear and apple while retaining that tell-tale verve and cut the 2024s will be known for.

2024 Domaine Paul Pernot Côte d'Or Bourgogne Blanc
Review Date: 01-09-2026
The consistent improvement in quality of Bourgogne blanc across the board in Burgundy is admirable and it is clearly evident here as well. Bright and fresh with notes of orchard fruits, flint and wet stone this feels a bit like a “baby” Puligny Montrachet. Tough tot beat this wine when it comes to quality-to-ptice-ratio.

2023 Domaine Gérard Tremblay Chablis 1er Cru "Montmain"
Review Date: 01-04-2026
The vineyard of Montmains is large and produces notably complex Chablis that ages extremely well. The 2023 Gerard Tremblay Chablis 1er Cru "Montmains" is a great example of the depth and complexity that this vineyard can deliver under a masterful winemaker such as Vincent Tremblay. The wine is rich with notes of white flowers, hazelnut, flint and citrus notes while the palate is bright and lively with hits of citrus and orchard fruits that seamlessly run from the front palate all the way to the finish. A classic example of a great Chablis vineyard.

2023 Domaine Gérard Tremblay Chablis 1er Cru "Beauroy"
Review Date: 01-04-2026
The vineyard of Beauroy shares many similarities with that of Cote de Lechet as far as exposure and ripening which imbues it with rich fruit and power. Beauroy may lack some of the finesse and cut that Cote de Lechet has but it makes up for it with deeper core of fruit and power. Bursting at the seams with citrus and stone notes with hints of orchard fruits the 2023 Gerard Tremblay is a great crossover for the California Chardonnay drinker.

2023 Domaine Gérard Tremblay Chablis 1er Cru "Côte de Léchet"
Review Date: 01-04-2026
Cote de Lechet is a rather large vineyard that is perfectly exposed to the south-east. Here the fruit ripens early and produces wines of intense white fruit with floral hints . The 2023 Domaine Gerard Tremblay is a great example of why Cote de Lechet is so sought after with white flowers, flint and hints of lemon and grapefruit while the palate is bursting with rich citrus notes and subtle hints of flint and stone. This is a ready to drink, full-bodied Chablis bursting with pretty fruit that is impossible to ignore.

2020 Paringa Estate "Peninsula" Shiraz Mornington Peninsula Victoria
Review Date: 12-18-2025
I'll be the first to admit as the K&L Burgundy Buyer I don't drink a lot of Shiraz, but this is definitely a great value in Shiraz. It comes from an extremely cool climate and feels very Northern Rhonish in style and aromas. There's tons of baking spice, fresh herbs and hints of pepper with a palate flush with red and black fruits and more notes of pepper make this an ideal food wine thanks to its racy acidity and freshness. At under $20 there are few if any Syrah based wines that I would rather have.

A more serious Beaujolais Nouveau the Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau is stacked with dark berry fruit, savory notes of dried herbs, earth and underbrush. What a beautiful nose! Super fragrant with floral aromas as well as notes of crushed pomegranate and ripe boysenberries. There is an array of fresh berry fruit on the palate that comes in waves each juicier and more yummy than the last. This is an easy-to-drink wine that is impossible not to enjoy! 2017 Trimbach "Cuvée Frédéric Émile" Riesling Alsace
Review Date: 08-29-2025
One of the great, long-standing producers in Alsace, Trimbach is renowned for producing chiseled Rieslings that age beautifully and consistently over-deliver given their price. The Frédéric Émile offering is sourced from two Grand Cru vineyards: Geisberg and Osterberg, which, when blended together, create an amazing wine. Deep, full, and complex, the 2017 Trimbach “Cuvée Frédéric Émile” Riesling stuns from the first sniff of the glass all the way to the long, multi-faceted finish.
