2011 Étoile du Rhône (Stéphane Vedeau) Côtes du Rhône
Review Date: 3-28-2013
One of our best selling Côtes du Rhônes is back! The 2011 Etoile is true to form, reflecting the brighter acidity and more zippy nature of the vintage. Cranberries, hibsicus and bright cherry nuances are framed by bright acidity and fine, fine tannins. I love this wine with a slice of cheese and Fra'Mani salami!

Fluteau Blanc de Noirs Brut Champagne
Review Date: 3-27-2013
This delightful champagne has been on my go to list as of late. I love to start a meal with a delicate, straitforward and fresh glass of bubbles, and this vivacious little pinot noir based number from the Aube region of France always delivers. Try it with deviled eggs topped with chopped cornichons, bacon bits or a dollop of caviar!

2010 Domaine Santa Duc "Tradition" Gigondas
Review Date: 3-27-2013
The 2010 Santa Duc Gigondas is one of my top picks from this stellar vintage. Deep, bold and characterful, this grenache based red is the perfect accompaniment to heartier fare. If you like roasted pork or beef stew then crack open a bottle of the Tradition and take a trip to the foothills of Provence!

2010 Famille Perrin "Les Sinards" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Review Date: 3-26-2013
A sip of the Perrin family's Les Sinards Châteauneuf-du-Pape immediately transports me to the heart of the Rhone Valley. Lush grenache fruit perfectly ripened by the warm Provencal sun is complimented by just enough rough and tumble garrigue-y bramble to keep this substantial red from being over ripe or boorish. If you are looking for a truly classic CdP to relish this evening with your garlic roasted leg of lamb or rosemary crusted pork loin then look no further than Les Sinards.

2012 Domaine de Viranel Viognier Vin de Pays de Cessenon
Review Date: 3-26-2013
For those of you that constantly seek the ever so seductive advances of viognier, have I got a little number for you. Domaine de Viranel's beguiling example is chock full of the varietal's classic honeysuckle, peach and grapefruit notes. However the wines modest alcohol level and inherent acidity will thankfully keep your palate buzzing right along and eager to take that next sip. Delicious with indian or thai curry dishes!

2010 Domaine Girard Vin de Pays d'Oc Chardonnay
Review Date: 3-26-2013
Admittedly, it takes alot to get me jazzed up about chardonnay. Whether it's big, fat and unctuous, or a lean, mean high acid machine, this globetrotting varietal comes in a myriad of vinous shapes and sizes. Domaine Girard's Chardonnay spends extend time on the fine lees, which contributes an undeniable elegance to the finished wine withough sacrificing acidity and structure. I cannot think of a more over achieving chardonnay

2011 Domaine Girard Pinot Noir Vin de Pays d'Oc
Review Date: 3-26-2013
Domaine Girard's Pinot Noir comes from cool climate vineyard sites located just a stone's throw from the Pyrenees. Light and delicate are definitely appropriate adjectives to describe this wine; primary fruit and rose nuances akin to a Willamette County pinot matched by the structure a more racy pinot noir from Burgundy. Looking for a light red to pair with fish or asian inspired dishes? Well look no further.

2009 Domaine Girard "Tradition" Côtes de Malepère
Review Date: 3-26-2013
In terms of an everyday go to red, Domaine Girard's Malpere is for me the best the best of all possible worlds. No oak influence translates to fresh, clean cabernet franc and merlot flavors. If you love rhone styled wines and have an appreciation for Bordeaux, then this user friendly red from the hills of the Languedoc will no doubt knock your socks off.

2012 Château Viranel "Tradition" Saint Chinian Rosé
Review Date: 3-26-2013
After a cold winter, bereft of jubilant pink wines, we welcome the arrival of one of the first rosés of the season! Chateau Viranel's rendition is, as usual, a dry little number full of juicy red berried fruits and mineral notes. This latest release from the newly minted 2012 vintage is a tad bit more intense and fulsome than its predecessor. Great with Grilled Tuna steaks, lavender crusted pork loin or eggplant lasagna.

2011 Domaine de Viranel "Trilogie" Vin de Pays de Cessenon Rouge
Review Date: 3-26-2013
This latest release of Viranel's Trilogie is, in my opinon, their best ever. Dark fruit, black tea notes and delicate floramatic notes make for a perfectly balanced, intruiging (are we in the south of France?) and enjoyable glass of red wine. I suspect that once the word gets out, the Trilogie will not be around for too long!

2010 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 2-11-2013
Ruby red, with plums, cherries, hints of roasted herbs, cassis and tobacco. Wonderful mid-palate richness, with a finish that tapers off with beautiful full-plus yet refined tannins and nice acidity to boot. My top pick for 2010.

2010 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge, Pessac-Léognan Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 2-5-2013
Black currant fruits and gorgeous smoky notes, a bit of cedar and violets together on a full-bodied framework with medium+ tannins. Very nice minerality.

2010 Angludet, Margaux (1.5L) Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 2-4-2013
Medium++ bodied, with red berry fruits and subtle notes of cocoa nib and mineral. Medium+ fine tannins and an exemplary spine of acidity that bodes well for ageability.

2010 Capbern Gasqueton, St-Estèphe Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 11-20-2012
For me the revelation of the trip. I had the opportunity to experience this wine for the first time while tasting at Calon-Ségur. Rich raspberry and red berry fruits, a mix of damp earth, exotic Five Spice and a hint of tobacco made for a really dimensional albeit young Bordeaux red. Full-bodied, with lots of promise.

2010 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe Pre-Arrival
Review Date: 5-16-2011
Brooding and intense, with a serious mouthful of crushed blackberries, cranberries and stony minerality. Bittersweet chocolate makes a subtle appearance here too. full++ bodied, and absolutely built for the cellar.
