James Suckling
Reviewed April 2025A complex wine with waxy aromas of smoke and peach stones. While acidity carries the finish, the mid-palate shows weight and integration, with a fine peach aftertaste. Drink or hold. (AF)

Vinous
The 2023 Soave Classico La Froscà is understated in the glass, mixing sweet herbs with freshly sliced nectarines and nuances of lime. Mineral-inflected orchard fruits and crisp mineral tones wash across the palate as hints of sage emerge toward the close. It finishes a bit short yet crisp and clean, leaving a subtle tension to linger. (EG)
Notes
La Froscà takes its name from the volcanic hill in Monteforte d’Alpone, in the Soave Classico zone. Gini’s Garganega vines occupy a six-hectare site with calcareous and tuffaceous soils; the historic vineyard was planted in 1930. The 2023 fermented spontaneously, 80% in stainless steel and 20% in used oak barrels. It remained on its lees for eight months, followed by six months in bottle before release.
