Notes
Kosta Browne began in 1997 when restaurant colleagues Dan Kosta and Michael Browne pooled their tip money to purchase fruit and make a single barrel of Pinot Noir in Sonoma County. What started as a small passion project quickly gained a following, helping establish Kosta Browne as one of California’s most influential names in Pinot Noir. Production centers on cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced from leading vineyard sites across the Sonoma Coast, Russian River Valley, Anderson Valley, Santa Lucia Highlands, and Sta. Rita Hills. While the winery originally relied entirely on contracted fruit, it later expanded into estate vineyard ownership, including Anderson Valley’s Cerise Vineyard. Today, Kosta Browne remains focused on site-driven bottlings and limited-production releases, producing roughly 30,000 cases annually and operating within The Duckhorn Portfolio.
