Reviewed March 2026A juicy, vibrant red, with bouncy cherry and rooibos tea layered with dusty earth and charred sandalwood. Smoke wafts out on the smooth, harmonious finish, held in check with chalky tannins. Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. (KB)

A newer addition to the Montfaucon portfolio, this Lirac fills the gap nicely between the La Côte Côtes-du-Rhône and the Baron Louis Lirac. Made entirely from estate fruit, it captures the brighter side of the region.
Rich, ripe red berry fruit leads the way, with strawberry jam, red cherries and even some red flowers for good measure. This is pure pleasure in a glass. It is a more explosive style, reflecting both the ripeness of the vintage and a more ebullient side of vigneron Rudi de Pins' winemaking. Where Baron Louis leans darker, savory and more contemplative, this is about freshness, generosity and immediate appeal.
Notes
An 88-acre estate, Château de Montfaucon sits just across the Rhône River from the esteemed vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is owned and operated by Rodolphe de Pins, a UC Davis graduate and former member of the winemaking staff at Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe. Over the years, Château de Montfaucon has developed a HUGE following among both our staff and customers. In organic conversion.
