2020 Dr. Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese Mosel

The 2020 Erdener Treppchen Auslese AP # 68 from Weingut Dr. Loosen is a lovely young wine. It comes in at eight percent alcohol, carries 74.8 grams of residual sugar and has acids of 8.8 grams per liter. The nose is already beautifully expressive, wafting from the glass in a mix of apple. pear, violets, honeycomb, a lovely base of slate, a touch of wild yeasts and a potpourri of fruit blossoms in the upper register. On the palate the wine is crisp, complex and fullish, with a lovely core of fruit, superb underlying minerality, zesty acidity and fine focus and grip on the long and seamlessly balanced finish. This is still quite primary on the palate, though delicious, and prudence would beg to give this wine a fully decade in the cellar to allow its flavor profile to catch up with its already quite extroverted aromatics.
