Notes
The Worthy Then...Worthy Now dual bottlings were devised by Martin Cate of Smuggler's Cove and David Othenin-Girard, K&L Spirits Buyer. Designed to highlight the diverse and complex array of offerings from the exceptional estate in Lluidas Vale, Jamaica, the series will be sold exclusively at these the two venerable California institutions. This barrel - Worthy Then- was aged 14 years in used bourbon cask- the oldest aged stocks at Worthy Park having only resumed distillation at the old estate in 2006, the very year when this rum was distilled. It's drawn from one single barrel filled in 14 long hot summers ago with Worthy Park Medium (WPM) – a rarely bottled marque that blends their Worthy Park Light (WPL) rum with high ester Worthy Park Extra (WPE) rum. WPE is fermented with a specially propagated wild yeast strain for up to three weeks. Near the last third of its life, the distillery would have racked two barrels together to avoid the complete loss of the stocks. After another half decade they bottled it without additions, corrections or chillfiltration exclusively for this special project. A truly special example of the age worthiness of these special distillates and easily one of the coolest rums we'll ever have the honor of selling.
