1976 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Beerenauslese Goldkapsel Mosel

There’s a lot of (English) chat about this wine on the Internet, but nobody seems to have tasted it. The relentless heat of the long summer of 1976 has given this wine an intriguing bitter note with nuances of caramelised orange peel and graphite. But it’s exactly those bitter nuances that add contours to the luscious sweetness of raisins and lime marmalade, which the valiant acidity might not have managed on its own. 19/20 points. (MS)
