Reviewed August 2024This is always an excellent blanc de blancs, with sliced apple, lemon and other citrus fruit, as well as mineral and chalk. It's medium-bodied with lovely density and a fine, creamy texture. Energetic and translucent. 4 years on the yeast and 100% grand cru. Drink or hold.

A benchmark entry-level non-vintage blanc de blancs in an effortlessly crisp, refined frame. Beautifully charred citrus, gunflint and sourdough aromas frame a gently persistent palate of ripe, juicy lemon and pear, drawn with unusual length and finesse. With just 10% reserve wine, the emphasis here is on brightness and energy. This score is for the magnum format. Only a few are made but the added quality represents fantastic value. (TH)

Based on the Côte des Blancs, the Champagne home of Chardonnay, it's logical that this producer should make a fine Blanc de Blancs. This wine has all the attributes, with crisp apple and a mineral texture that is tightly prominent. This is a fine wine, just hinting at toastiness. (RV)

Burghound
An elegant, pure and overtly citrusy nose offers additional breadth in the form of green apple, quinine, and notably more evident floral nuances along with yeasty hints. The highly energetic and wonderfully refined middle weight flavors are supported by a markedly firmer, and finer, mousse on the very dry but not really austere finale. This is a wine that could be enjoyed now for its youthful vivacity and punch or easily held for 5 to 8 years if you enjoy a more mature expression, which is what I would suggest. Lovely.
Notes
This is 100% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, rich, with a surprisingly delicate quality, round yet mineral. It features a rose-like nose with citrus and ginger, and in the mouth hints of biscuit and bread crust. Fantastic with rich, creamy seafood dishes especially.
