2008 Bodegas Volver Tempranillo La Mancha
(out of stock)
Review Date: 9-22-2010
This wine is a big disappointment compared to the 2007. It's more alcoholic, at 15%, and indeed tannic, raw, and unbalanced, contrary to the "professional" reviews. Not a particularly pleasant drink, and it's hard to see how it could improve to ever go well with a meal.

2004 Zarus Barrica Ribera del Duero
(out of stock)
Review Date: 12-1-2009
There is nothing terribly wrong with this wine. It's just faded in fruit and finish from the Parker and Tanzer reviews of 2 - 3 years ago that are posted in this wine's description. If you're going to spend 14.99, whether for a cocktail wine or for accompaniment to a dinner's main course, there are many better and more interesting choices available in the $10 - $14 range. I regret having bought three bottles based on the obsolete posted reviews.

2007 Bodegas Volver Tempranillo La Mancha
(out of stock)
Review Date: 11-24-2009
I didn't like the balance or flavors on first opening it, particularly the tannin level (which is understandable for such a young wine). However, after being opened for a day, and after lots of aeration-by-swirling in the glass, it opened up to reveal some nice flavors balanced by adequate acid. The alcohol, at 14.5%, is a little too high to accompany most subtly flavored dishes, but fine for more-aggressive dishes such as bloody-mary skirt steak.
