Reviewed February 2026Displaying a deep garnet hue, the 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino Vigna Del Fiore is brooding and introverted on opening, then slowly reveals layered notes of cigar box, black cherries, juniper, licorice, and charred rosemary. The palate is full-bodied without weight, with plush, even tannins, refreshing acidity, and good length that keeps it composed and precise. It has terrific complexity and should only gain more clarity and depth with time in bottle. Drink 2026-2046.

Rich plums and cherries with hazelnuts and sweet spices. Pretty tight and flavorful, with medium to full body and a juicy, tense finish. Very structured and long. This needs two or three more years. (ZS)

Wine Advocate
More vertical and sharply defined than the village bottling, the Fattoria dei Barbi 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Fiore delivers focused aromas of blackcurrant, pressed rose and crushed stone. The tannins are carefully managed, providing lift and support without harshness, reinforcing the wine’s sense of precision and balance. This smaller, more hands-on production comes from the 5.7-hectare Vigna del Fiore site, with total output limited to 10,020 bottles. (ML)

Vinous
The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Fiore is expressive in the glass, with notes of crushed raspberry and cherry complemented by allspice and dried rose. Elegant and round, it offers perfumed red fruits and inner florals lifted by a wave of tantalizing acidity. The finish is crunchy and long, leaving a citrus tinge that puckers the cheeks as edgy tannins linger. (EG) 94+

Vigna del Fiore is one of the oldest and most revered single vineyards in the appellation (first bottled in 1981). If the classic bottling provides the traditional muscle of the estate, Vigna del Fiore is its nervous system.
The aromatics here are absolutely soaring. True to its name (Vineyard of flowers), it offers an intoxicating, high-toned perfume of pressed rose petals, lavender, and wild mint, but it has notes of iron that lift the body of the wine entirely. It has that electric, vibrating energy that I am always hunting for in top-tier Sangiovese. It feels weightless but possesses immense concentration. So much to like here.
