Reviewed January 2019Lastly, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a completely different beast and has a more classic, tight, layered style, yet make no mistake, it’s still a powerful, concentrated wine by any measure. Black fruits, chocolate, scorched earth, white flowers, and graphite notes give way to a packed, full-bodied, layered 2016 that has enough building structure to warrant short-term cellaring. It should easily keep for 25 years or more. (Drink between 2019-2044)

A selection of the best five barrels, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is very deep purple-black in color with an incredible nose of baked blackcurrants, blackberry pie and blueberry preserves with mocha, Indian spices and dried herbs in the background. The palate is full-bodied, rich, concentrated, layered and decadent, finishing long. 95+ (LPB)

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a barrel selection from Tench and Armstrong, with a dollop of Merlot added into the blend. Rich and hedonistic, the Reserve shows Stu Lerner and Russell Bevan's style taken to the max. Dense and sweeping in its grandeur, the 2016 offers up an enticing mélange of dark fruit laced with tobacco, licorice, mint, rose petal and red cherry accents. Soaring aromatics play off the wine's fruit so well in a wine that pulses with richness and energy. More than that, the 2016 Reserve is really suggestive of what might be possible in future vintages here, with more experience. I loved it. (AG)
