A glowing lemon and lime colour, really delicious. Immaculate precision on the nose, as steely as they come. Excellent tension, the purest of white fruits, just a little cream behind which is a sign of concentration, supported in this case by really well-judged oak. Huge ageing potential. Youthful bitters in the best way.

Smelling of ripe citrus and passion fruit laced with toast, this wine is a flavor powerhouse. Lushly ripe fruits are spun by bustling acidity on the palate, keeping everything fresh and bright. Give this at least five years post-vintage to start showing its pent-up concentration. This saw 40% barrel aging with the rest in stainless steel.

Moderate wood is present on the overtly floral-suffused nose of mostly white fleshed fruit, especially pear and apple, along with notes of citrus confit, acacia and oyster shell whiffs. There is excellent richness and concentration to the markedly powerful larger-scaled flavors that coat the palate on the overtly stony, dry and compact finale. At least moderate patience will be required as this is pretty tightly wound.

The 2022 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a surprisingly austere bouquet that demands some coaxing from the glass. At the moment, it is outperformed by the Valmur. The palate is fresh and saline, with wonderful acidity, touches of peach and Clementine towards its graceful finish. Long and tender. I would give this time in bottle for the aromatics to open. This Chablis is incredibly complex. With a nose if mellow citrus fruit, clean sea salt and leesy scents, it's super interesting. On the palate, quite mouth-filling with a bit of neutral evident oak and lively bright stone fruits and citrus. The finish lingers and leaves a nice nectarine and green apple aftertaste. It's also a really good candidate for the cellar.
