2011 Seven Hills Oregon Pinot Gris
Review Date: 3-20-2013
A winery with tremendous consistency and high quality for the price. The Pinot Grigio is bright and fresh with great layers of flavor. Cinnamon, apple, vanilla and just a touch of cedar give this wine a amazing depth to go along with a refreshing acidity. It is definitely richer than it's cousins from the north, this is fruit from Southern Oregon, but still a perfect spring sipper.Enjoy with many seafood and Pork dishes.

2010 Hirsch Vineyards "San Andreas Fault" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Review Date: 3-6-2013
Aren't you lucky to be an Insider member? At $60.00 per bottle, this is one of the top 5 Pinot Noirs made in the United States. At this price, you can't get any better. This is a cool climate Pinot, with lean cherry fruit, cinnamon, oak spice and great mineral notes throughout. 2010 is the first for new winemaker Ross Cobb. He has taken an already stellar Pinot producer and added even more complexity and vibrancy. He is a welcome addition to the Hirsch team and I'm sure there is more great wine to come. This wine will be better in 3-5 years and hold for 10. If you want to drink it now, decant for a couple hours.

2009 Fort Ross "Fort Ross Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Review Date: 2-13-2013
It never surprises me when I taste the new vintage of Fort Ross and it is brilliant. The 2009 is full of black cherry, forest floor and mushroom with hints of spice and cedar. The wine is beautifully ripe with a structure and acidity that gives it great balance. Another winner for Fort Ross.

2009 Clos du Val Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 1-15-2013
This is a great Napa Valley Wine at a great price. Lush, forward fruit with layers of spice, cedar, coffee and chocolate. Nicely balanced with soft tannin and structure. Many wines at twice the price would love to be this good. Clos Du Val has been making great Cabernet for many years and the future is looking good.

2009 Priest Ranch "Somerston Vineyards" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 1-15-2013
This 2009 Cabernet is a real charmer. Rich dark red and blue fruit with hints of vanilla, cedar, chocolate and licorice. A big wine but not over the top. Structure and tannin give it a nice balance. I would drink it over the next 5 years. This wine is made by Craig Becker, winemaker at several wineries in addition to Somerston and the skill of the man is unmistakable.

2009 Yamhill Valley Vineyards Estate Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
Review Date: 11-19-2012
Reasonably priced/High Quality Pinot Noir is hard to find these days. The Yamhill Valley Vineyards price to quality ratio is second to none. Yamhill Valley Vineyards is not found in California all that often but is very well known in the Pacific Northwest. The Estate Pinot Noir is aged 20 months in used French and Oregon barrels. Medium bodied with bright red fruit with amazing layers of cinnamon, forest floor and clove. The wine has a great balance of bright fruit and acidity. With the holidays here, this is a great wine for meals and parties.

2009 Dunn Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Review Date: 10-2-2012
The Dunn's have made great wine for years and now they are getting the publicity and attention they have always deserved. The 2009 Napa is a stunning effort. Bright black and fruit with touches of raspberry nicely balanced with cassis, pepper, mocha, cedar and just a touch of bell pepper. A beautiful minerality zips through the wine.
The wine shows great structure and balance. A couple years of aging will help it open up although 3 hours in a decanter and it's ready to go now.

2008 Bucklin "Old Hill Ranch" Sonoma Valley Zinfandel
Review Date: 5-17-2012
Combine an old mixed black vineyard with a talented, passionate winemaker and you have a combination that has to succeed. The wine has been outstanding for several vintages but the 2008 has hit the nail right on the head. Old Hill ranch is a a vineyard that is over 100 years old, Sonoma's oldest vineyard. It is a dry farmed, organic vineyard and a true field blend. The vineyard has two dozen grape varieties — principally Zinfandel, but also Grenache, Alicante Bouchet, Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Syrah, Carignane, and Tempranillo, to name a few. All are blended together in this wine. This wine has balance and structure with enormous power. Bright plum fruit with hints of red fruits, licorice, chocolate, pepper with a lovely minerality running through it. If you love Zinfandel, this is perfect. If your not a big fan of Zinfandel, this could be the wine to change your mind. Drink now or 2-3 years in the cellar.

Marguet Pere et Fils "Cuvée Reserve" Brut Champagne
Review Date: 12-13-2010
I tend to lean towards the Blanc de Blanc champagne but when I'm looking for a sparkler with a bit of muscle I alway look to Marguet. Nice pinot fruit flavors with hints of yeast and toast. Beautiful!
