 From Master Distiller Jimmy Russell and his son Eddie Russell, this tawny and full-bodied whiskey evolves on the palate. At first, it features orange peel, vanilla and caramel, then dry leather and cocoa notes midpalate, and finishes long and lean with clove and allspice accents. The Russell's Reserve Small Batch Bourbon was developed by Wild Turkey Distillery's Master Distiller Jimmy Russell and his son Eddie. Initially a limited edition release, the Russell's Reserve is now a 10-year, and the age is spot on for this particular Bourbon. The Cigar Aficionado describes it as a "heady quaff with a nose of sweet vanilla and buttery cinnamon toast. In the mouth, it shows its age--woodier than other Wild Turkey products. It is very sweet without being cloying, but also informed with the tang of orange peel and some spiciness. The finish is all maple candy. In short, it's a warming tonic for when the weather turns cold..."

My Bourbon of choice for sipping after dinner, the 10 Year Old Small Batch from Jimmy Russell is one of the great values in our extensive collection. The high toned savory rye flavors balance the sweetness of the corn to make this one of the most grown up, focused Bourbon's that we have at any price. I am never without a bottle in my liquor cabinet!

Initially your olfactory gets hit with a slightly medicinal vanilla and toffee, but let it breathe and some wonderful hints of maraschino and marzipan start to unfold.
When tasting a menage a trois of toffee, vanilla, and spice sit upfront, but let it rest on your tongue and then move it around a bit and silky touches of corn and rye start to appear alongside something I can only describe as apple pie.
Mild and smooth it doesn't numb or burn like some bourbons tend to.
Spice sticks around the aftertaste for a while, but as it fades there is Creme de Noyaux type flavor (less sugary) that hangs around for a few minutes before fading without leaving any trace of a sourness or bitterness behind.
