The Crissante Alessandria 2021 Barolo del Comune di La Morra blends Lampia and Michet to produce a classic and well-proportioned expression of the vintage. Brilliant ruby in color, the wine shows depth and energy with crunchy fruit, balanced alcohol and chalky tannins that provide both freshness and structure. Naturally fermented and put aside for a long resting time in bottle, the wine reflects La Morra’s mineral-rich soils and water-retentive conditions, which lend tension and vitality. (ML)

Alberto Alessandria approaches fermentation as an infusion rather than a maceration. He tries to retain whole berries, giving delicate pump-overs to keep the cap bathed. His objective is finesse over power. Taking Roggeri as its base with equal portions from Bricco San Biagio and Bettolotti, his village Barolo adeptly captures the elegance and fine frame associated with the township. Nuances of strawberry, white pepper, brushwood and crushed allspice are decorous yet unwavering. Soft tannins are talc-like in texture, and acidity lends a citrussy crunch. This expresses itself in its subtleties. Wait – but not too long. (MM)

The 2021 Barolo del Comune di La Morra is a superb appellation-level wine. Floral and silky on the palate, with fabulous persistence, the 2021 exudes class from start to finish. This has come together beautifully over the last year or so. Specifically, the tannins that were a bit troublesome before have begun to integrate into the wine's fabric. The essence of La Morra in a glass. (AG)

From one of La Morra’s historic families, the 2021 Crissante Alessandria “Comune di La Morra” is a beautifully aromatic and elegant expression of Barolo. Capturing the generous, warm character of the 2021 vintage, this wine is wonderfully expressive and approachable. The nose is fragrant and inviting, with notes of ripe red cherry, wild raspberry, and dried rose petal, accented by hints of sweet spice and licorice. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and silky, with fine-grained, polished tannins and a core of supple red fruit. The finish is long, graceful, and harmonious. A stunning, classic La Morra Barolo that offers both immediate pleasure and the ability to age.
