2012 Domaine Barge "Le Combard" Côte-Rôtie (Library Release)

This wine is now in a perfect, mature drinking window to enjoy it right away. The nose is a classic expression of aged, traditional Syrah, offering a complex bouquet of dried violets, black olive tapenade, cured meat, and savory aroma of roasted game. On the palate, the fruit has softened into notes of dried cherry and fig, which are seamlessly integrated with secondary flavors of cracked black pepper and old leather. The wine's structure is fully resolved, with silky, melted tannins and a gentle acidity that maintains freshness without being sharp, showcasing a complete sense of harmony. The finish is long, savory, and exceptionally smooth, fading on a soulful, earthy note of dried herbs and campfire smoke. It's our newest Direct Import from the Rhone Valley and becoming one of my favorite Syrah from this region.
