Notes
Lagar de Costa is a small family run winery that is located in the prestigious region of Val de Salnes. The winery is located 100s of meters from the shores of the Ria de Arousa. They farm traditionally using the local version of the pergola called Parrales. The winery is currently run by the family's 4th generation, and they are driven to showcase not only the inherent quality of their local variety, but to also show off it versatility as well. They do this by using different styles of winemaking as well as highlighting the potential of single parcels. A winery to keep your eyes on. Determined to express the full potential of Albariño, Lagar de Costa has created several unique bottlings. With the Calabobos they use concrete eggs. All the fruit is sourced from a single parcel that was planted in 1990. It was fermented in stainless steel and then aged for one year in a concrete egg. This vessel not only helps bring more texture to the wine, but it also enhances the region's classic minerality. It takes its name from the region’s light rains.
