Reviewed January 2024This village-level Santenay is pleasantly aromatic, displaying an aroma of ripe plums touched with earth and spice. The fruit continues on the palate with an appealing sweetness bolstered by supple tannins and rich extract. The grapes come from a half-hectare walled clos within the lieu-dit Clos Génet; they are destemmed and gently fermented before ageing in cask (35% new). This wine should drink well shortly after release and will hold for up to five years. (CC)

A lifted fresh ruby colour. The nose is all about the fruit, ripe cherry and a touch of raspberry. Fills the mouth, a little more body than La Cassiere, with good acidity to complete the finish. A little of the fresh orange note that I used to find in Santenay. A fine long finish.

The 2022 Santenay Clos du Clos Genet has a higher-pitched bouquet than the La Cassière: red cherry and wild strawberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate has chalky tannins with plenty of vibrant red fruit and admirable mineralité coming through on the finish. (NM)

This wine was quite the surprise! After a floral and bright nose, it is surprisingly full-bodied with plush ripe fruits, primarily ripe red cherries and strawberry compote. The finish is clean and lingering. Quite a bit of wine for its moderate price!
