A bright, fresh, and ripe vintage expression of Grand Cru Chardonnay. 2017 was a "solar" year, which means it was hot by Champagne standards, but the harvest ended with fleshy, ripe and balanced fruit. Pear in syrup, grapefruit, citrus, with a clean, pure mouthfeel that is creamy, rich, and luxurious with yummy notes of almond, toast, and minerals.
Notes
This vintage wine from Launois comes from older vines in the mid-slope portions of their estate in Mesnil and Cramant Grand Cru. Only massal-selected Chardonnay vines are used in this blend. The 2017 vintage was great for Chardonnay in Champagne, and this wine not only has the bready richness upfront, but also fantastic minerality on the long, dry finish. -Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer
