Reviewed October 2022This is an enormously appealing wine with its pleasantly ripe, plummy fruit and silky texture, freshness, and subtle underlying tannic structure. The grapes come from a 0.77-hectare parcel in premier cru Toussaints that was originally planted in 1969. They are partly destemmed and gently fermented before ageing in cask (30% new), most of which come from Cavin and François Frères. The result is a wine of elegance and finesse. (CC)

A slightly more elegant, and certainly more expressive, nose features notes of both red and dark currant, violet and pretty spice wisps. The sleek, delineated and utterly delicious medium weight flavors exude a more evident bead of minerality on the balanced, sneaky long and youthfully austere finale. Like the Bataillère, this would benefit from developing better depth though more should develop if given a chance. * Outstanding!*

Of the trio of the Morot Beaune wines at the sixty dollar point, it is very hard to pick and choose a favorite. All of them are wonderful! For me, the "Toussaints" has the slightest notch up because of the extremely pretty violet nose. It is simply a pleasure to just smell the darn thing! Tart candied cherries, crunchy minerals, cranberry compote. A real delight and just flat out one of the prettiest Burgundies that I have had in quite a while.

Probably my favorite from Morot selection. I love its concentration of dark cherry note and touch of earth and spice, it's very approachable and drinkable now, yet can be easily laid down to age. It's aromatic and layered with lovely nuances, enjoy it with roasted duck!
Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "There are not many who label this.If the Cent Vignes is about the florals, this is a wine that focuses on fine pure red fruit aromas. Equally fluid, but more mineral in style. There’s freshness of course. But fine, successive, waves of finishing flavour lap over the tongue. Hmm – that’s another great wine – also with a modest glimpse of the barrel only in the finish…" (01/2023)
