Reviewed August 2022The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Au Vignoret 1er Cru comes from a one-third of a hectare parcel. It has a complex bouquet with yellow fruit, lanolin and crushed rock aromas. The palate is very well balanced, elegant and precise, a little more linear and direct than the Clos de France and very persistent towards the finish. Merlin described this as very Côte d'Or in style - I can see what he means (except for the price maybe!) (NM)

This is the first wine to display any appreciable reduction and here it's enough to blur the detail of what is clearly ripe fruit. There is fine intensity to the sleeker and utterly delicious flavors that retain excellent delineation on the bone-dry and youthfully austere finale that is shaped by lemon-tinged acidity on the sneaky long finale. If you're going to crack a bottle young, be sure to give it 30 minutes in a wide-bottom decanter. *Outstanding!*

The "Au Vignerals" from Oliver Merlin is from high altitude south facing slopes, so lots of sun exposure! The result is a rich wine with nice acid and some interesting herbal and spice notes. There's nutmeg, chamomile, good minerality, and just a hint of butter, making for a complex, creamy, and interesting wine. Some aging in the cellar wouldn't hurt, either!

Delicious citrus driven Pouilly Fuisse. Its depth and richness of fruit seamlessly combines with bright acidity and lovely mineral notes. Full bodied yet elegant with lemon curd flavor profile and juicy finish. It's very classic style and one of the best from that region.
