2016 Viñátigo Listán Negro Rosado Tenerife

SKU #1306439 90 points Vinous

Hot pink. Aromas of ripe red berries and blood orange pick up a subtle floral accent as the wine opens up. Fleshy, dry and focused on the palate, offering bitter red currant and cherry flavors that deepen and become sweeter on the back half. Nicely concentrated yet lively, finishing with very good persistence and a lingering floral note. Drink 2017-2019. (JR) (8/2017)

K&L Notes

Produced from 100% Listán Negro grapes, this Canary Island rosado is juicy and red fruited, but with a hint of Listan's spicy, peppery qualities as well to offset the berries and hints of watermelon. Pure volcanic, rosado from Tenerife!

If you drink rose often but have grown restless and want to spice things up a bit, this should fit the bill. Don't let the dark color fool you - this is still fresh and dry but instead of the typical citrus and floral tones found in most roses, this one is full of red cherries, white pepper and spice. It reminds me of wines made with the Pineau d'Aunis grape from the Loire Valley. Complex in the nose and on the palate and just scrumptious. I love this wine.
