Jacques Esteve Petit Champagne Hors d'Age Cognac (750ml)

SKU #1285474

This new Hors d'Age (ten year old) edition of Jacques Esteve is one of the best mid-range Cognacs we've ever offered as part of our direct import program in that it has just a bit more richness than some of the other editions we've offered from Dugognon and Bouju, for example. Located in the Petit Champagne region, Esteve's vineyards have immensely-chalky soils, creating a fine wine with firm acidity and an even finer Cognac once that wine is distilled. This stunning expression begins with clean flavors of fruit and only a slight amount of roundness, before the finish slowly moves in and packs a dose of toasted oak, vanilla, and baking spices on the finish. For those looked to lean out their heavily-sweetened big house options, but without sacrificing too much of the supple character they love in Cognac, this is a great middle road option.

This is a great addition to the Cognac selection at K&L. There are pretty floral aromas that are enhanced with citrus and spice notes. In the mouth it elegant with soft hints of citrus and spice topped off with a touch of caramel. There is a nice long finish. The only thing wrong with this product is that there is not a lot of it in stock.

We're previously focused on Esteve's 25 year and older Cognacs (to great success!), but this time around we wanted to find something more reasonable and accessible for everyday drinking. This Hors d'Age edition has the clean and lean character of our other caramel-free Cognacs, but with a bit more oak spice and richness on the finish. It's the picture of grace with its lithe flavor profile of stonefruit and subtle vanilla notes. I think we'll have people coming back for this again and again.
