The 2015 Château d'Arce is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and it was picked earlier than usual, at the end of September, in order to preserve the Merlot aromas. No SO2 was used apart from two grams just after the malolactic, using CO2 to preserve the wine. It has a plush cranberry, black cherry and licorice scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, caressing in the mouth, hints of cedar and bay leaf, gentle and elegant with a sustained, light grip on the finish. This is very fine and elegant. The 2015 d'Arce is an attractive, forward wine to drink now and over the next few years. Succulent red cherry, tobacco, mint, spice and dried flowers add shades of nuance to this very pretty, understated Côtes de Castillon. Silky tannins and midweight structure add to the wine's immediacy and appeal. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. (AG)

Very accessible young Bordeaux and a perfect example of the much acclaimed '15 vintage. Ripe red fruits backed by moderate tannins, a savory note and a touch of fine oak.

Notes

A new property in the Cote de Castillion for the Garcin-Leveque family, of Barde-Haut fame, that has been given the same treatment as their other outstanding estates. Planted to 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc, the vines are farmed oragnic and sustainably and the fruit is all handpicked each vintage. 2014 was the first vintage for the husband and wife team of Hélène Garcin-Lévêque and Patrice Lévêque, and the 2015 improves upon the great success they acheived with D'Arce right off the bat. The wines represent an outstanding value both for short term cellaring and drinking. This is a hot property to keep an eye on.
