Acidity gives a lift to the dry core of the wine and brings out the black currant fruits. Wood aging is still showing, so the wine needs time. (RV)

One of the old-time favorites and value picks in The Wine Advocate, this wine, from a gorgeous château in the Castillon, sports a completely new label. Black cherry and blackcurrant fruit, and some underbrush and earth are present in this supple-textured, medium-bodied, deliciously fruity, well-made wine, which exhibits ripe tannin as well as nice texture and length. Very floral nose with violets, blackberries and plums. On the palate it offers an interesting combination of the fruit and a touch of earthiness that is so typical of Bordeaux - I would recommend decanting it for fleshing it out and experiencing its full potential.
