2005 Bollinger "Grande Année" Brut Champagne

SKU #1258891 94 points James Suckling

The 2005 is an impressively fresh Champagne that has an array of grilled nuts, nougat and chalky minerals ahead of red apple, lemon and grapefruit pith, red fruits and attractive red floral perfume. The palate's supple, smoothly cut, and has a wealth of concentrated dark and red berry fruit flavor that really speaks of pinot noir. This has warmth and richness; really bold and smooth with some spice to close too. The palate has a lot of power, weight and length. Will evolve to deliver brulée, toffee and mocha. Drink now or hold for five years. (7/2015)

Jancis Robinson

Disgorged Oct 2014. Very subtle, complete nose. Hedgerows and lift. Substantial wine that is not as tight-knit as some but is certainly attention grabbing. (17/20 points) (3/2015)

This is rich velvety vintage Champagne at its best! Made from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from mostly Grand Cru vineyard sites, it has very rich fruit flavors of black currant, exotic fruits and citrus with a deep toasted brioche note as well as aged cheese nuances. Its acid is soft and elegant, letting the richness of the fruit take center stage, and stay there long after the finish. Drinking perfect right now!
