2015 Zudugarai "Amats" Getariako Txakolina

SKU #1254705

Amats is both the brand name of the Txakoli as well as one of Zudugarai's vineyards. It's a beautiful vineyard, a sandy substrate covered in naturally growing green cover between the rows, with the Cantabrian Sea in full view to the north. Produced from Hondarribi Zuri grapes, this is classic Txakoli: zippy, crisp, tart green apple flavors are enlivened by a lovely sparkle from the CO2 retained in tank during fermentation. Try this refreshing, vibrant, low in alcohol white wine with a wide range of foods, from obvious choices such as seafood (grilled sardines or cured anchovies would be a few of my favorites) to more substantial fare. Of course, I would not argue with this wine being serve as an aperitive as well! (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)

If you are looking for a light, very dry, refreshing white for the warmer weather months, the Zudugarai Amats Txakolina is absolutely perfect. One hundred percent varietal Hondurrabi Zuri, this wine is a pleasure to all the senses. It is a uniquely beautiful golden color with a lemony saline minerality and just a touch of spritz. Watch out, this one goes down easy!

Woohoo! It's finally Txak-o-clock! I love this affordable Txakoli. It's Red Delicious apple, lemon zest, saline, and Bartlett pear, with a refreshing acidity that makes me keep reaching for more! Lower alcohol, this is a wonderfully versatile aperitif wine. Perfect with fresh summer tomato crostini, the classic Spanish pairing of Marcona almonds and Manchego cheese, or even with a fish or chicken dish. Stock up!

This is one of my favorite appetizer wines! Perfect for opening up your palate and excellent with tapas and salty foods. The 2015 Amats Txakoli is bright and expressive, with light effervescence and zippy acidity. We were very excited to bring in these wines directly and add a more affordable Txakoli to our portfolio, and the wines seem to be better and better each vintage. Don't miss out on this great bottle for those hot summer days!

There is no better warm weather refresher than good Txakoli. And Amats is very good Txakoli! Incredibly crisp, with bright fruit and racy acidity, as well as the trademark fizziness, Zudugarai does Txakoli every bit as well as anyone else out there. And instead of the $40-50 you may pay at your favorite tapas spot in the city, Amats is priced to guzzle down in the comfort of your own home! Enjoy this well chilled, with jamón, grilled or smoked fish, and definitely, without a doubt, with oysters. Speaking from experience, there are few things better than spending time with family or friends, slurping oysters and washing them down with Txakoli - do it!
