Louis Bouillot Cremant de Bourgogne Rosé "Perle d'Aurore"

SKU #1015268

This delightful Rosé sparkling wine comes from Burgundy. It is made of 80% Pinot Noir, and 20% Gamay Noir. The charming eye of the swan color comes from the addition of Pinot Noir to the wine when the lees are disgorged, following the traditional fermentation in the individual bottle, in the champagne method. On the palate it is very rich and fruity but just off-dry on the finish. The mousse is explosive, with a very creamy palate impression. It shows just a hint of the earthiness of a Pinot Noir from Burgundy. This is charming rosé, subtle and delightful. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy buyer) According to Wine Enthusiast: "An attractive pale onion skin rosé, its freshness given definite structure by tight tannins and wild raspberry fruit flavors. It is certainly as much wine as sparkler, with a final richness." (12/09)

All this for $14!!??!! This is a easy-drinking delight. Nice color, light, fruity strawberries on the nose and creamy strawberries on the palate. The bubbles really create a great creamy texture that fills your mouth and brings a smile to your face. I said it once before but it bears repeating: All this for $14!!??!! It was a great aperitif before Thanksgiving dinner: Watch the webisode at www.wineexpedition.com.

We served this sparkler along with Jean Louis Denois Brut NV to for a wedding cocktail party of 50. The guests were uniformly raving about these wines saying they don't usually receive this kind of wine quality at a large party...one guest asked me if I was able to keep my bottle price under $45! These are exactly the kinds of compliments I hope to hear...and why I shop often at K&L.

Additional Information:

Varietal:

Pinot Noir

- The Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in the cooler climate of Burgundy, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne that is used in all of the Côte d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Germany, the U.S., Australia, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success. Here is a list of our bestselling Pinot Noir.
Country:

France

- When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Burgundy

- The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Côte d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Côte de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Côte de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Côte d'Or. Also include by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north. View our bestselling Burgundy.
