Fleury "Carte Rouge" Brut Champagne

SKU #1006097

This is a real deal Champagne from Courteron, a village in the Aube department of Champagne, closer to Chablis than the city of Reims! Their methods are as Burgundian as their location. They are biodynamic, too, the strictest form of organic viticulture. The assemblage of several pinot noir vines from different years results in a very expressive and intense Champagne. Fruity and delicate, this very elegant and long-lasting Champagne is classic, smooth and quite rich in style. Mr. Fleury's obsession with quality shows through in the wine; it is the most exciting all pinot noir Blanc de Noir in our stock. The dosage is very low—one of the driest Champagnes we have— with a wonderful black cherry fruit quality that reminds us that it is all pinot! It is long and refreshing and very well balanced. This is one of my all-time favorite Champagnes, suitable for any occasion. The nose offers a medley of berries and baked puff pastry. The palate is full and round, with ample fruit supported by balanced acidity. The finish is very dry and long, with lingering berry and mineral notes. Divine!

Sub-Region:

Champagne

- The French region of Champagne (comprised of the towns of Rheims, Epernay, and Ay) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and winemaking traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range from the basic brut (often blends of several vintages), single vintage champagnes, and rose. View our bestselling Champagne.
