Four Roses K&L Exclusive OBSF (11 year & 8 months) Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon (750ml)

SKU #1208416

As long as the country's best Bourbon distillery allows us to keep buying delicious single barrels, we'll keep taking them! I know we're just getting into summer, but this cask has fall written all over it. The nose is an explosion of mulled spices and dried leaves with a blast of vanilla towards the back. The flavors on the palate are savory at first, with bits of bitter herb cloaked in charred oak. The finish is deceptive in its intensity, beginning slowly with soft accents of dark vanilla, and building methodically towards the encore. Baking spices, cocoa, and whisps of peppercorn. It never boils over, however, finishing with grace and subtlety, even at 56.1%. Lovely stuff.

This cask is one of my favorites of the single cask selections that are now in stock. There are wonderful and inviting sweet aromas at first glance. It is one of the sweeter of the casks, but it is not too heavy and is very complex. There is an interesting, long finish.

OBSF at nearly 12 years old? Yes please! This guy is all about the rye and the spice. The rye notes pop right out of the glass. Grainy, earthy, herbal and delicious we're in a pretty unusual territory for the OBSF. The palate stays super spicy, but subtle cooked fruits and sweet grains balance out the intensity. With air, it continues to expand and divulges a great deal more over the course of a glass. Another killer cask from our friends in Lawrenceburg.

United States

- When people consider domestic wine, they normally think about the state of California. The fine viticultural Region within California, including the Napa Valley, Sonoma, Santa Cruz Mountains, Mendocino and Santa Barbara, are capable of growing grapes of world-class quality. But there's plenty of fabulous wine coming from other states, too. Oregon, Washington and New York are also causing eyebrows (and glassware) to be raised around the world.
