From Robert Parker: "The 1999 Carruades de Lafite is made in the style of its bigger sibling. It reveals graphite, lead pencil, black currant, and cedary aromas, medium body, sweet glycerin, and a gorgeously expansive texture and palate. The wine is long and Lafite-like, and is unbelievably impressive." (04/02) From Wine Spectator: "Lovely aromas of sweet, ripe berries with hints of chocolate. Full-bodied, with silky, caressing tannins and a long, fruity aftertaste. Very impressive for a second wine. Best after 2004." (03/02) K&L's notes - Lafite’s second wine, Carruades de Lafite has a deep, rich, full nose of Cabernet. Touch of sweetness with crushed blackberry and cinnamon notes. Nice length on the palate and good grip on the end of the wine. It’s not fair to refer to this as a "second wine". The blend is 69% Cabernet Sauvignon and 31% Merlot.
