Lemorton "Reserve" Calvados Domfrontais (750ml)

SKU #995320

Lemorton Calvados comes from the southern appellation of Domfrontais. In this appellation at least 30% of the cider in the Calvados must be made from pears. This 6-year-old is elegant and beautiful, with more than 60% of the blend coming from pear. The apple, however, is what shines through and the Lemorton succeeds, more than any other Calvados we offer, in showcasing the bright acidity of the fruit along with soft touches of baking spice. Fantastic Calvados.

The Lemorton is a great bottle of Calvados and being from the Domfrontais has a lot of pears in it. It is round and rich, with lots of extroverted fruit flavor. It still finishes nice and dry and is far to easy to drink. I have been enjoying a snifter of this by the fire as a digestive in the evening and it is a great nightcap. Recently, Cinnamon took a flask of this mushroom foraging with her and she found it invigorating. I hope you'll try it out!

This exciting Calvados is made from 70% apples and 30% pears. The blending of pear brandy into the apple brandy is typical for the Domfrontais region. I think that the pear adds nuance and complex flavors that help lift up the bright apple taste of this delicious treat. The Lemorton Reserve is, at the time of this writing, my favorite Calvados in the store.
