1940 Pichon Lalande, Pauillac (Previously $1250)

SKU #951422

From Robert Parker…'One of the most consistent wines made in Bordeaux since the late seventies, Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande (called Pichon-Lalande by its admirers) is unquestionably one of France's most popular wines. It combines wonderful finesse, complexity, and supple richness with adequate availability and early drinkability. Although it only has two candidates among this century's greatest Bordeaux wines, the estate has produced a bevy of delicious, well-made wines. Pichon-Lalande produces approximately 25,000 cases of wine from its 150-acre vineyard planted in with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 8% Petite Verdot, and 7% Cabernet Franc.' (Oct. 1994)
