Château Potensac is owned by the Delon family, owner of such famed estates as Léoville-Las Cases, in St Julien, and Nenin, in Pomerol. Like Sociando-Mallet, Potensac proves that the 1855 classification of Bordeaux should sometimes be taken with a grain of salt. Potensac has made many wines of classed growth quality, though it is only a Cru Bourgeois property (in 2003 it was moved up to Cru Bourgeois Exceptionel). The vineyards of Potensac are located in Ordonnac in Médoc. The blend is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, with approximately 40% Merlot and Cabernet Franc combined. What a value for perfectly mature Bordeaux!
