This wine has a distinctive smoky, tarry character that runs through the aromas and flavors. It's full-bodied with high extract and ample tannins and very ripe, plummy, chocolately Cabernet fruit. (6/1987)
When the Graces acquired their Old Victorian home north of St. Helena in 1974, they decided to put in a few grape vines. They produced some grapes in 1978 and had Caymus make them into wine. This 1983 Grace Family Cabernet was the first produced under their own label. One of Napa Valley's first cult Cabs!
