BV's flagship wine, which is named for the founder of Beaulieu Vineyard, from the warm vintage of 1984. According the the winery's collectors' notes, the wine shows a maturing, medium full ruby-garnet color: "The bouquet is nicely elegant, with mint, berry and sweet cherry aromas that show more richness and depth than the palate. The flavors are slightly stewed (it was a warm vintage), yet also a bit acidic, while showing quite a lot of fullness." In 2009, wine writer Richard Jennings had similar notes: "Medium red color with pale meniscus; intriguing sandalwood, vanilla, cherry nose; tight, tart cassis, tart cherry palate with puckery tannins; medium-plus finish."
