1977 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

SKU #900018 John Gilman

Outer quote mark The bouquet is quite complex, albeit, still a bit weedy in the style of this bottling back in the day, offering up scents of cherries, cigar wrapper, a touch of dill, menthol, petroleum jelly, cardamom and smoky American oak. On the palate the wine is deep and full-bodied, with a slightly more four-square profile than the ’77 Bella Oaks paired up with it. There is good depth of fruit still at the core, modest tannins and a long, tangy and very nicely balanced finish. It is a very good wine that has aged gracefully and still has plenty of life in it for further keeping. Drink between 2017-2040. Inner quote mark (8/2019)

K&L Notes

The 1977 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a light ruby color with brick-red edges. It has a nose of cedar and chocolate. This medium body Cabernet has flavors of fruit and spice. This wine is starting to peak and would be best enjoyed now. It may need decanting due to light sediment.
