2000 Jacopo Poli "Vintage" Barrique Grappa (750ml) (Cannot ship- in store pick up only)

SKU #680062

The presitigous Jacopo Poli distillery, located in Schiavon outside of the city of Bassano del Grappa, is one of Italy's premier artisan distillery. While the distillery has made its name distilling ultra elegant and nuanced single varietal Grappa, it is this exceptional product that seperates them from some of Italy's other top producers. Indeed, this exceptional aged Grappa transcends the category completely. First distilled in 1989, an expression of Toni Poli's personal style as a distiller and lover of Grappa, only 9 barrique were produced each year. This, the final batch that Toni Poli would ever make, was distilled in October 2000. He passed the following year, but his final achievement would live on, exemplified by this special brandy. A blend of exceptional grape pommace of multiple red varietals from the Veneto and matured in European oak for more than a decade in their exquisite underground cellars, the Poli Barrique is truly the work of a master. The spirit, bottled at an eye popping 110 proof, is the most astounding and complex Grappa we've yet to experience. The final barrel from Toni's last batch was dumped in 2013, and while the family continues to produce an hommage to Toni in their Solera di Famiglia offering, this is the final stock of the 2000 vintage distilled by the man himself. Expect a huge nose of toffee, coffee, roasted vanilla bean and dried herbs. The palate is powerful, arresting almost, persistent and mouthwatering. An absolute legend.
