Zesty fresh herb, bell pepper and jalapeño notes lead the nose and palate. Coconut and agave anchor each sip, which echo with sage, thyme, jalapeño and a hint of smoke, finishing brisk with lemon peel, cayenne and a cooling, mentholated exhale. Aged two to three years. The weighty cap is shaped like a tahona, the stone wheel traditionally used to crush agave for distillation. (KN)

K&L Notes
El Tesoro de Don Felipé Tequila began in 1937 when the brand's namesake founded the still traditional distillery in Los Altos (the highlands) of Jalisco, Mexico. The methods implemented by Don Felipé de Jesús Camarena remain intact today, including traditional hornos (ovens) and tahona wheels, alembic stills, and underground aging facilities. The distillery, known as La Alteña, continues its 60-year-old operation in the most old-fashioned way possible. As a result of all of this care, the tequilas in El Tesoro's portfolio are some of the purest examples of what tequila should taste like and representative of the sweeter style of tequilas produced in Los Altos.
