The current release of the NV Estate Brut is made up mainly of fruit from the 2015 vintage. It is a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and was made with about ten grams per liter dosage. Disgorged in October of 2018, it has a fresh, open nose with pure fruit expression: crushed apples, pears and lemon peel mingle with touches of stone, flowers and toast. The medium-bodied palate offers a lovely dichotomy of toasty fruits with uplifted citrusy, minerally accents with a finely beaded mousse, and it finishes long and ultra fresh. (EB)

An enticing, toasty, nutty aroma leads to
crisp and complex flavors in this medium-bodied
wine that is braced by good acidity and a fine bead
of bubbles. Subtle, mature notes complement the
elegant texture. (JG)

First overall in the sparkling category. Louis Roederer's outpost in California's cool Anderson Valley is a stylistic chip off the old block. The blend includes a considerable portion of reserve wine that's been oak-aged, making for a rich, weighty mouthful of creamy bubbles. Malolactic fermentation is suppressed in order to preserve acidity but a healthy dosage of 12g/l adds to its girth. What this sparkler lacks in zip, it makes up in texture and concentration. Lots of baked apple and toasted cashews here. (MM)

Wine & Spirits
As fresh as crunchy apples in the fall, this wine opens to beautiful richness with air. There’s toasty character from the lees aging and brighter notes of red fruit, hinting at raspberries. A clean sparkler with impressive flavor depth, this serves equally well as a refreshing aperitif or a substantial dinner partner with seafood sausage.

Delicate and svelte, with apple puff pastry and floral citrus flavors accented by snappy mineral and fresh ginger notes. (TF)

Connoisseurs Guide
More than a bit reminiscent of a bright and lively Blanc de Blancs, this fresh-as-can be Brut very much inflects to its majority percentage of Chardonnay and is long on insistent, always complementary yeast with an especially fine, equally insistent stream of tiny bubbles. From its fruit and its autolysis to its dosage and cleansing acidity, it is a wine that shows excellent integration and balance, and, if neither as layered nor as complex as its cousins made with extended tirage time, it is a buoyant, exceptionally well-crafted sparkler that capably delivers the goods at a noteworthy price. *Good Value*

K&L Notes
Founded in 1982 as the California outpost of Champagne Louis Roederer, Roederer Estate builds upon a centuries-old tradition of fine winemaking. Roederer Estate's sparkling wines are produced using only grapes from the winery's own vineyards. Carrying on the tradition of Champagne Louis Roederer in France, special oak-aged reserve wines are added to each blend.
