1958 Shirakawa "1958" Japanese Single Malt Whisky (Previously $27000)

SKU #1697554

This incredible treasure is truly unprecedented. The Shirakawa Distillery was founded in Fukishima in 1939. The distillery began producing Scottish style single malt whisky in 1951, making it one of the first after Yamazaki to produce this important style. Single malt production continued until the late 60s when the style fell out of favor in the domestic market. Eventually, the facility was demolished in the early 2000s, but a tiny stock of whisky was uncovered in 2019. It had sat in the parent company's warehouse for decades, but was clearly dated as being distilled exclusively in 1958. This rare malt is offered on an extremely limited basis as a special pre-sale price. In addition, the brand will be available to taste for 10 lucky guests at the Michelin-starred Providence restaurant. There the importer will pour this exceptional whisky along side 25 year old single cask single malts from their rarified stocks. Those who purchase the Shirkawa in advance will get first access to seats at this $1000 a head dinner, which includes tasting of Macallan 25 Year Old 1st Fill Sherry Hogshead, Laphroaig 25 Year Old 1st Fill Sherry Butt, Bowmore 23 Year Old 1st Fill bourbon and the incredible Shirakawa 1958 along side an incredible wine and food tasting menu from the master Michael Cimarusti.
