2022 Château de la Noblesse Bandol Rosé (Previously $25)

SKU #1682726

Agnes Cade and her father, Henri Gaussen, cultivate the 14 sunny hectares of Château de la Noblesse, an estate that has been in their family for generations. Their zesty rosé is a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault, and makes a great companion to spicy, saffron-infused dishes. Try it with a Spanish paella for the perfect summer meal.

This Rose from the excellent 2022 vintage should satisfy pretty much everyone. It is dry and lightly tannic with dark raspberry fruit, rose petal scents and blood orange flavors. Add in some stone fruit notes and generous minerality and you have a Rose that is perfect on its own or can be paired with chicken, pork, salty cured meats and sharp cheeses. A great Rose at a very nice price.

It's never too late in the year to enjoy a bottle of Bandol rose, in fact it's probably better. The wines of Bandol have a long history of ageability, the roses included. Since both the reds and roses are based on Mourvedre, which lends body and weight, and the vines are planted on calcareous clay-limestone, which helps provide acid structure, they have all the stuffing they need to develop more bottle complexity. The Noblesse has been one our Direct Imports for several years and it has gained a strong following. It shows notes of red currant, white peach and red plum and finishes with a succulent mineral intensity. This is a gorgeous drink right now but you would surely find much to enjoy as this wine settles and evolves over the next year or two.
