2022 Domaine Cherrier Frères Sancerre

SKU #1682720

Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930. Since then four generations of the family have run the estate. The domaine has limestone and calcareous clay soils that wonderfully influence the character of the grapes grown there. The Sancerre is consistently delicious, with citrus, chalky minerality and light floral notes. Its dry finish complements seafood and cheese beautifully. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "The Cherrier to me is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasing Sancerres/Sauvignon Blancs from anywhere in the world."

This generously fruit-forward Sancerre continues to prove its mettle and even rise about more expensive white Sancerre. The great 2022 vintage is alive with lemon curd, lemon salt, key lime and juicy, fresh cut orange. Lovely acidity that isn't overwhelming or too much. That makes this release perfect for anything from fresh oysters to a creamy spaghetti alla limone.

Brother Francois and Jean-Marie Cherrier have knocked it out of the park with the supple fruit filled Sancerre. The 2022 vintage is a generous one with ripe fruit but the acid structure is intact. The regular Sancerre from this Direct Import stalwart is filled with flavors of fresh Meyer lemon, green melon and nectarine. It has a lovely mid-palate weight that is fleshy but never heavy. It's downright crushable really! The price of Sancerre has progressed significantly over the last few years from world demand, to the short lived tariffs, to the constant shortages due to frost, it is challenging to find good Sancerre at this quality at this price. To mix my metaphors, this is a slam dunk!
