Petiau Brut Grande Réserve Champagne

SKU #1675579

What a value! This blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir spends five years on the lees before release, and comes from the 1er Crus of Trépail and Vaudemange as well as the grand cru of Ambonnay. This creamy, brioche-filled Champagne has a white gold color and extraordinary elegance for the price. This is a poised, elegant wine with perfect bubbles after its long ageing and a clean, dry finish. -Gary Westby, K&L Champagne Buyer

An 'entry level' champagne that feels like anything but 'beginner', and makes you doubt your need to move beyond the entrance - Petiau Grande Reserve. For starters, this wine experiences five years on the lees before bottling, an astoundingly long (and costly!) process for a wine that doesn't even cost $40, but one that shows to me the level of care that Petiau shows when making even their 'entry level' champagne. Clean and bright orchard pear, a hint of savory oceanic fossil-minerality, and tagged with a mile long finish of creamy short crust - Petiau has been my Grower Of The Year so far, and continues to impress with each bottle!

This is a beautiful and delicious Champagne. It is nice and balanced, medium bodied, and is dry and complex. There is a wonderful refreshing crisp finish.

This is a newer grower champagne house just picked up by our buyer last year, it is exceptionally drinkable and such a sweet price point I hope we can keep this included in our set for a while. The perfect balance of apples, pears and melon and just enough tartness and minerality for an aperitive Champagne. Small beads and an amazingly long finish.

A new direct import stunner, the Petiau Grande Reserve is an eminently quaffable champagne for an absolute steal of a price. The nose has a delicate sourdough quality, along with a nice dose of chalk and seashore salinity. On the palate, the ripe golden apple flavor, crisp but measured acidity, and velvety texture lead nicely into a long, chalky finish with a hint of peach skin. This champagne goes down very easily indeed, and would make an outstanding aperitif. Perfect for any festive occasion!

This new (for us!) producer is producing some great quality champagnes. This Brut Grande Reserve, although chardonnay dominant, has a big biscuity nose with vanilla cream and butter cookie dough. In the mouth, it is very lush and soft with caramel apple, nougat and dried apricot flavors. It is also very easy to drink. Lush and very appealing.
